Look who’s at it again!
I am a very curious person. I try to learn about everything. It’s pretty time consuming, but I come across some really rad stuff quite often. I thought I might jump back in to this newsletter and share some of that radness regularly, but aim for brevity. Still doing footnotes though!1
This post’s topic is Artificial Intelligence. Which many will argue isn’t the best term, because at the very least, what even is intelligence. Let’s try and find out!
I geek out often over Thu Vu’s lively and informative YouTube videos on all things Data Science, so of course I’ll put her Intro to AI video first in this listicle. Also I love how much she loves The Witcher.
The question of whether AI is a danger to humanity or a boon goes beyond the idea of “Skynet is online” and robot overlords. These Women Tried to Warn Us About AI.
Not everyone who recognizes the dangers of AI is fully opposed to it; I was interested in Alie Ward’s Ologies podcast episode with Dr. Nita Farahany. Their discussion about neurotech is illuminating, Alie is as always charming and funny, and there’s a huge pile of Show Notes, woohoo. Also Farahany gives a shout out to one of my faaaaavorite series ever - Altered Carbon. WHAT do I have to do to get more folks to watch it.2
I’m always going to seek out Kelly Hayes’ research and opinions, so here’s the truthout Movement Memos podcast take: AI Won’t Overthrow Us, But It Will Optimize the Capitalist Death Machine.
And finally, the most intense info-dense podcast that I enjoyed comes from The Dig. AI Hype Machine w/ Meredith Whittaker, Ed Ongweso, and Sarah West.
Learn anything? Got any smart links about AI to share?

Speaking of radness, here’s a good review, but beware spoilers. And this is just Season 1. I think Season 2 is even better.
